Systems integration of these software-intensive solutions utilises a blend of bespoke and third-party applications. As such, the successful candidate is likely to have a background in large scale software systems engineering.

Whilst technical infrastructure forms an essential part of solutions this role is unlikely to suit candidates whose experience is predominately centred on infrastructure development/management and security aspects of that infrastructure.

Key to this role is an ability to understand how the systems will be used in the intelligence, crime-in-action, investigation and security domains and then to be able to develop secure solutions. The Secure Systems Engineer / architect will have experience performing pre-sales and delivery activities which provide solutions for law enforcement, security and intelligence services customers.

*Direct customer contact throughout the entire solution lifecycle.
*Business analysis activities with customer stakeholders to understand, influence, inform and define the overall customer requirement including integration of wider business transformation and change drivers.
*Deriving solution requirements, roadmaps, architectures and designs from customer requirements and presenting these to a wide range of audiences.
*Lead discussions relating to solution decisions, benefits and trade-offs with stakeholders.
*Identification of potential partners/suppliers, developing & maintaining working relationships with these partners/suppliers.
*Hands-on support to implementation teams as required.
*Support to sales and business development teams including promotion of capabilities in this area.
*Support to phase reviews and governance processes.

The individual may also be expected to perform technical management of projects for a portion of their time. Additionally, this role may also require international travel and periods of overseas work.

Skills and Experience

The architect will have :

*Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant technical discipline such as computer science, electronic engineering etc
*Professional qualifications or membership, e.g. Chartered Engineer and/or membership of BCS or IET
*Experience of delivering large mission critical system of systems solutions in the national security or law enforcement sectors
*Experience of using architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, MODAF, Zachman; associated modelling languages such as UML/SysML and enterprise architecture toolsets such as Enterprise Architect or MooD
*Experience of defining and integrating complex architectures blending new and existing systems/assets whilst ensuring continuity of customer operations
*Experience of identifying, analysing, documenting and presenting solution options and trade-offs to business and customer stakeholders along with contribution to associated business cases
*Experience of operating in integrated teams spanning multiple international geographies
*Experience of collaborating and integrating solutions with multiple international product suppliers
*Experience of systems integration for solutions that handle sensitive or protectively marked information.
*Experience of delivering large scale solutions that are software intensive and operate on very large datasets at a national scale

The following are essential:

*Proven working knowledge of the Law Enforcement or National Security & Intelligence domains.
*Business and technical skills required to articulate, define and deliver large scale, information heavy, software-intensive processing solutions.
*Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
*Ability to create innovative solutions and articulate associated benefits
*Good team working skills but also able to work effectively as an individual when required
*Ability to make balanced judgments based upon company, customer and industry drivers

This role will be based from their Bristol office however there will some international travel.

* Due to the nature of the role you will need to have or have the ability to get security cleared to at least SC level *
